Why Health Coaching?
Health coaching is for anyone who would benefit from working with a coach to help them accomplish their health or wellness goals. Sometimes it is a chronic illness you are dealing with or unpleasant symptoms in your body. Some people with PCOS, IBS, diabetes, and other health problems benefit from working with someone who can support them and hold them accountable on their health journey. A health coach also helps you understand nutrition, foods- including those that agree with you, how to read labels, prepare foods, develop an exercise routine that works for you, understand cravings, etc.
For anyone who struggles with eating behaviors, food or exercise guilt, chronic dieting, and other rigid or unhealthy patterns around health. We do not encourage diet culture, and help our clients understand how to care and nourish their bodies intuitively. We help you understand the science of your own body, restore trust in caring for yourself, and help you redefine your experiences with nourishing your mind and body. We also work with you to understand the connection between food and mood. Our approach is process-oriented, based on eastern practices, and emphasized on trusting your inner wisdom. If you are looking to develop a healthy relationship with food, change unhealthy patterns, understand your cravings, or find a natural remedy to physical symptoms, this may be a program for you.
Sahar Akhtar is a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner. She is also a Board Certified and Licensed Psychotherapist. Sahar has worked with clients who struggle with chronic pain, hormonal imbalances, digestive problems, etc. Working with a health coach who is also a psychotherapist is beneficial for people who have a history of eating disorders, and/or emotional imbalances. Sahar's style is one that will support you yet challenge you.
